Somewhere we read that the human life on the island of Krk is far above the average. We believe that this with a mild climate and beautiful sea is also accompanied by light Mediterranean food. Below, we'll give you a few delicacies that you definitely have to try when you visit the island of Krk.


Krk lamb

Going back to history, whoever of the foreigners visited the island, they tried to discover all of his wealth and make the most of it. Therefore, the Romans have given him the epithet "Shiny Town of the People of Krk". The historical legend tells that in Nero's feasts in Rome Krk lamb was served. If you're a fan of the same, then you know that it is very possible, considering that the Krk lamb is one of the best Croatian specialties. When you combine it with the famous Vrbnik zlahtina wine, you will enjoy a special gastronomic experience.


Olive oil

Very good geographical position and the benefits of the Mediterranean climate have favored the excellent quality of the taste of the Krk olives. That's why there is nothing better than a few drops of premium oil to freshly grilled fish. Today it is an indispensable addition to most autochthonous specialties. It is interesting that, apart from the diet, it has been increasingly used for health preservation. Rightly called it a golden drop or the elixir of youth.

Seafood specialties
We dare to say that the best seafood specialties come from the Adriatic Sea. Due to its purity, temperature and numerous freshwater springs, it is rich in blue and white fish, crabs and shellfish. From the dentex, monkfish, stingray, grouper over sardines, mullets, hake to squid and octopus. Still, our Kvarner Scampi is world famous and you have to try it. Stew or barbecue, it is up to you, and no matter what choice you will not make a mistake.
Homemade dough

We must not forget about šurlice, macaroni or gnocchi, the most famous Krk made from home-made dough. Whether you eat them with sauces, or "white", they are a special pleasure.
In the end as always always comes something sweet. Presnac, presnec or presnoc name for a traditional dessert from the Krk sheep cheese whose name depends on your location on the island. Interesting, is not it?
