The island of Krk can boast with one of the largest concentration of blue flag beaches on the Adriatic. There are even 15 award-winning beaches for which the island of Krk is nicknamed "the island of blue flags"! Here is our personal choice of the best beaches on Krk island.
Vela plaža (Great beach) - Baška
As its name suggests, the particularly spacious beach in Baška since 1999 carries a blue flag as a confirmation of its quality. The shore of the beach is shallow and sandy, which makes it great for families with children, and offers various facilities for adult visitors looking for fun. Including pedal boats, water slides, jet skis, water skiing, sports grounds...
Oprna beach - Stara Baška
Unlike Vela plaža, there is a little more effort to get to Oprna Beach. It is a relatively small beach, 120 meters wide, which can not be reached by car but by challenging trails or by sea (excursion or taxi boat). Oprna is a beautiful pebble beach with crystal clear sea!
Porporela beach - Krk town
Very close to the center of the town of Krk is Porporela beach, another blue flag bearer. It is a beach that is partly pebble and concrete. Porporela is one of the most visited beaches on the island, well equipped and adorned her deep shade of nearby trees.
Sv. Marek beach - Risika
The beautiful sandy beach is a short drive from Vrbnik. Within the beach there is a parking lot for visitors. Close to the beach is a hill on top of which is the chapel of St. Marek, from which you can enjoy a wide view of this part of the island of Krk.
Meline beach - Soline/Čižići
It's a really special beach - on the beach Meline you can get a healing mud (black mud) that has a beneficial effect on rheumatic diseases. It is a beach with an exceptionally shallow sea away from the coast!

We would especially note a large number of beaches on the island where also man's best friends are warmly welcomed! Beaches for dogs and segments of big beaches can be found on the whole island: Redagara (Krk town), Vela plaža (Baška), Kijac (Njivice), Mala Krasa (Punat), Mala Javna (Vrbnik), Punta Šilo (Šilo), Soline bay.
