The airport of Rijeka is located on the island of Krk, only 20 kilometers away from the eponymous city. Besides the airport, the island is also connected to the coast by the bridge, and also there are many ferry lines that can take you to some of the other islands. It makes the Island of Krk be the Island with the best traffic connections in Croatia, but most likely on the entire Adria, too.
The Rijeka airport is connected to the majority of european countries - you are only hours away from the largest european airports. Once you land, you can easily get to all of the cities of Krk, with a short drive.
1. Fly your way to Krk from different european cities
The island has great connections with western, northern and middle Europe. It has routes to:
- Germany (Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Hannover, Köln, München, Stuttgart),
- Netherlands (Eindhoven),
- United Kingdom (London),
- France (Paris and Marseille),
- Latvia (Riga),
- Sweden (Stockholm),
- Slovakia (Kosice).
The newest lines were established last year, from Serbia (Beograd) and France (Marseille). There are also flights to Israel (Tel-Aviv).
2. Connections to other Croatian destinations
The aiport is connected to the other Croatian cities - Osijek, Split and Dubrovnik. The easiest, quickest and the most comfortable way to get to the to the cities of Split and Dubrovnik, which are, probably, the most visited and popular tourist destinations of Adria, is by flying!
3. The airport's distance to the other cities of Krk
Most of the places on the Island are distanced less than 30 minutes of driving. The most distanced are Baška and Punat (30-45 km). The city of Krk, Vrbnik and also Rijeka (a large coastal city) are 25 kilometers away, and Njivice and Malinska less then 15 km.
Basically, when you land to the Island, you have made it to your destination!
